Call for abstracts

The Scientific Committee invites authors to submit their abstracts for consideration and inclusion in the program. All accepted abstracts accepted as Oral or Poster presentations require that at least one author attend the congress to present the work and answer questions. Only abstracts of registered participants will be scheduled in the Scientific Program.

Rules for submission

Abstracts submitted to EPA-UNEPSA meetings should focus on scientific findings and must not be abused to promote products or companies. Any financial support by commercial companies and any ties to commercial companies such as employment and honoraria must be transparently disclosed. The use of brand names of commercial products should be avoided, unless the disclosure of brand names is necessary for the understanding of the abstract in which case the brand name should not be used more than once.

Oral and poster presentations should focus on the presentation and discussion of scientific data and not in any way be abused for marketing or advertising purposes. Any financial support by commercial companies any ties to commercial companies such as employment and honoraria must be transparently disclosed. The name of companies linked to the research should be disclosed but no company logos should be used in scientific presentations in order to avoid even the suspicion of undue promotional activities. The use of brand names of commercial products should be avoided, unless the disclosure of brand names is necessary for the understanding of the presentation in which case the brand name should not be used more than once.

All abstracts must be submitted and presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling suitable for publication.

Only the abstracts of registered presenting authors will be included in the final program.

Registration fees must be received by the Secretariat by Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

The Scientific Committee will determine whether abstracts will be accepted as oral or poster presentations, with consideration to be given to the author's preference.

Abstracts will be reviewed and assigned to appropriate sessions. The author is expected to attend the congress and present the poster.

All submitted abstracts must contain novel data.
If an abstract was previously submitted to a different congress, but was not presented, it can be submitted to this congress as well. If it was previously presented, it cannot be submitted.

Licence to publish

Authors of all abstracts are required to grant an exclusive licence on a worldwide basis to the BMJ and/or co-owners or contracting owning societies (where published by the BMJ on their behalf) in accordance with our standard licence.

Be aware that by submitting your work for publication authors are agreeing to the terms and conditions of BMJ’s standard licence to publish for abstracts, which can be found at http://journals.bmj.com/site/authors/Abstract_licence_Oct_2014.pdf.
As this is an exclusive licence, authors must sign agreement to this licence before publication.

Abstract submitters' declaration

BEFORE SUBMITTING THE ABSTRACT, THE ABSTRACT SUBMITTER WILL BE REQUIRED TO CONFIRM THE FOLLOWING:

  1. I, the Abstract Submitter, confirm that I previewed this abstract and that all information is correct. I accept that the content of this abstract cannot be modified or corrected after final submission and I am aware that it will be published exactly as submitted.
  2. Submission of the abstract constitutes my consent to publication (e.g. congress website, program, Journal, other promotions, etc.)
  3. I, the Abstract Submitter, warrant and represent that O have the rights of all the information and content ("Content") provided to the 8th Europaediatrics organizers (Hereafter: "The Organizers"). The publication of the abstract does not infringe any third party rights including, but not limited to, intellectual property rights.
  4. I, the Abstract Submitter, grant the Organizers a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable nonexclusive license to use, reproduce, publish, translate, distribute, and display the Content.
  5. The Organizers reserve the right to remove from any publication an abstract which does not comply with the above.
  6. I herewith confirm that the contact details saved in this system are those of the corresponding author, who will be notified about the status of the abstract. The corresponding author is responsible for informing the other authors about the status of the abstract
  7. The presenting author is requested to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Organizers.

Abstract submission deadlines

The abstract may be submitted in English on the official congress website system latest by February 27th.

All abstracts will be reproduced in the Abstracts e-book, exactly in the form you submitted. All authors are kindly requested to follow below guidelines while submitting your abstracts. Abstracts will not be edited and authors will not see proofs. Obvious mistakes will be corrected and the abstracts will be amended to house style as appropriate.

Your abstract will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.

Acknowledgement of acceptance of your abstract will be received via e-mail and on submitter profile page by the end of March, 2017.

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstract language: English
  • Abstracts must be received by the announced deadline. Abstracts received after the deadline will not be considered
  • Presenting authors of abstracts must be registered participants. Also, Publication of abstract is guaranteed only if at least one presenting authors is register to the congress. You can only submit the abstract on your User profile by entering the username and password received with the registration confirmation.
  • Use generic names. Commercial drug names may not be used
  • After finishing you can preview your abstract
  • The abstract can be reviewed and finalized by lodging in the User profile at a later stage (till the submission deadline).
  • Your abstract can only be submitted if the system check for correctness was successful.

Abstract format

  • Abstract title: must be in UPPER CASE and is limited to 200 characters (spaces included)
  • Abstract thematic category: Please select the thematic category related to your abstract
  • Presentation type preference (poster presentation / oral presentation).
    Kindly note that the final type of presentation will be decided by the Scientific Committee after evaluation by the Abstract Reviewing Committee
  • Please enter the keywords you would like to associate to your abstract.
  • Author names: Please enter full author name. The presenting author’s name should be underlined.
  • Affiliation details of all authors: Affiliation details should be in the following format:
    Department; Institution / Hospital; City; Country
  • Abstract text/length should be limited to 2500 characters (spaces included) including acknowledgements (fewer if a figure is included in the abstract).
  • Abstract structure: Abstracts should be as informative as possible and must use the following structured format:
    • Background and aims
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusions
